# Disable automatic renewal

This tutorial explains how to disable automatic renewal for your subscription by placing a configuration order.

### Prerequisites <a href="#howtodownsizeamicrosoft365subscriptionlicense-prerequisites" id="howtodownsizeamicrosoft365subscriptionlicense-prerequisites"></a>

Ensure that both the subscription and its associated agreement are active.&#x20;

### Disable automatic renewal

**Start the process**

To start the process:

1. Go to **Marketplace** > **Subscriptions**.
2. Select the required subscription.&#x20;
3. **Submit the configuration order**

In the guided configuration workflow, do the following:

1. **Auto-renewal** – Select **Disabled**, then select **Next**.&#x20;
2. **Order details** – Add any reference details or comments, then select **Next**.
3. **Review order** – Review the order details, then select **Place order**.&#x20;
4. **Summary** – Select **View order** to open the order details page or select **Close**.

### Next steps

After the configuration order is submitted, your subscription will remain active through the end of the current commitment period and will then expire without any additional charges.
