Terminate Microsoft 365 agreement

How to terminate your agreement containing Microsoft 365 subscriptions.

This tutorial describes how you can terminate your Marketplace agreement by placing a termination order for the agreement.

When you terminate your agreement, all subscriptions within that agreement are terminated.

Prerequisites

Make sure that the agreement you want to terminate is currently active. Agreements in any other state cannot be terminated.

Open the agreement to terminate

To open the agreement:

1. Go to Marketplace > Agreements.

2. Select the agreement to terminate.

3. On the agreement details page, select the dropdown arrow , then choose Terminate.

Terminate the agreement

In the guided Terminate agreement flow, complete the following steps:

1. Items – Verify that all subscriptions show the new quantity as 0 and select Next.

2. Order details – Provide reference details, like additional IDs or notes, and select Next.

3. Review order – Review the order details, then select Place order to submit the termination order.

4. Summary – Select View order to open the order details page or select Close.

Next steps

A termination order is created for the agreement and submitted to the vendor for processing.

Additionally, the agreement status changes from Active to Updating, and you cannot place any additional orders under this agreement.

Once the termination order is processed, the status of the agreement and all subscriptions within the agreement change to Terminated.
