# Create and manage renewal orders

Submit subscription changes in advance.

In the SoftwareOne Marketplace, you can submit changes to your subscription in advance and allow them to take effect automatically on the renewal date.&#x20;

This helps you plan renewal-related changes without affecting the current subscription until renewal occurs.

### Before you begin

* Scheduled renewal orders are available for eligible subscriptions that support renewal changes.
* Scheduled renewal orders can include:
  * License quantity changes.
  * SKU or term changes (when supported by the vendor).
  * Auto-renewal setting changes.

### Create a scheduled renewal order

To create a scheduled renewal order:

1. Go to **Marketplace** > **Subscriptions**.&#x20;
2. Locate the subscription you want to update.
3. Select the dropdown arrow<img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAGAAAABgCAYAAADimHc4AAAAAXNSR0IArs4c6QAAAopJREFUeF7tmk1OwmAURQvL0f04Z+SaHDF3P7ocNI2pCYZAudx+9z1zGPN+vnN6CaXsJl5RArvodIZPCAhfBAhAQJhAeDwJQECYQHg8CUBAmEB4PAlAQJhAeDwJQECYQHg8CUBAmEB4PAlAQJhAeDwJQECYQHg8CUBAmEB4PAlAQJhAeDwJQECYQHg8CUBAmEB4PAlAQJhAeDwJQECYQHh8JAGHw+vT8fj2GT772fjUTsMFzAc97ffv+9PppYqE5E5DBSwHnaav52nafVSQkN5pmIDzgy7pz0qosNMQAZcPmpVQZafNBVw/aEZCpZ02FbDuoGMlVNtpUwEz2koHrrTL72U34rt4hYNX2OES680TsAxNAkjOvnWBDxOQ+jiqDH9mMlTAaAnV4UcEjJLQAX5MwNYSusCPCthKQif4cQFuCd3glxDgktARfhkBj0roCr+UAFXCXDc/4Pl5xnDrlf35O3onfAuNesf8U9cTfrkEaBLWqK135S9bD78TXoPr/o+ja13rwi+bAF8SasMvL+CxJNSH30KAJqEH/DYC7pPQB34rAesk9ILfTsB1Cf3gtxRwWUJP+G0FnEuYpgp/cVx7f/P3fWVvxNYcaP4Rbn5flT/5rtn5XwlQDlytpnUCqsFU9kGAQs1YgwAjTKUVAhRqxhoEGGEqrRCgUDPWIMAIU2mFAIWasQYBRphKKwQo1Iw1CDDCVFohQKFmrEGAEabSCgEKNWMNAowwlVYIUKgZaxBghKm0QoBCzViDACNMpRUCFGrGGgQYYSqtEKBQM9YgwAhTaYUAhZqxBgFGmEorBCjUjDUIMMJUWiFAoWasQYARptIKAQo1Yw0CjDCVVghQqBlrEGCEqbT6Bgoy2nAnTiZDAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC" alt="" data-size="line">, then select **Renewal**.&#x20;
4. In the guided **Renewal** workflow, configure the required changes.
5. Review the renewal order and select **Submit**.

After the renewal order is approved, its status changes to **Scheduled**. You can identify scheduled renewal orders in the following locations:

* The **Orders** page, where renewal orders are listed with the **Renewal** order type.
* The **Subscriptions** page, using the optional **Renewal Order** column and related filters.
* The subscription details page, where a message indicates that a scheduled renewal order is associated with the subscription.

On the renewal date, your order moves to **Processing**. Once processing is complete, the requested changes are applied to the subscription.

Until the renewal order is processed, the subscription remains active and continues to use its current configuration.

### Cancel a scheduled renewal order

If the renewal date has not yet been reached, you can request cancellation of a scheduled renewal order.

To request cancellation:

1. Go to **Marketplace** > **Orders**.&#x20;
2. Select the required renewal order.&#x20;
3. Select **Cancel**.&#x20;

The cancellation request is submitted. If it is completed successfully, the scheduled changes will not be applied to the subscription.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.platform.softwareone.com/modules-and-features/marketplace/orders/create-and-manage-renewal-orders.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
