Restrict Groups to Specific Buyers

Buyer visibility is a feature that works at a group level, allowing you to choose whether your group of users can see all buyers in your account or only selected buyers. It helps you manage access to buyers by offering group-level restrictions, ensuring that your group members can only access appropriate buyers.

This feature is useful if you have different types of users in your account, for example, global users and local users. Global users need access to all transactions and data across all buyers (including orders, subscriptions, and more), while access for local users may need to be limited. With this feature, you can apply group-level visibility restrictions. This means your group members will only see buyers and objects linked to their access.

Visibility restrictions only apply to the Marketplace module in the platform.

Buyer-level group restrictions rules

The following rules apply when restricting a user group to specific buyers:

  • Only account administrators can set restrictions when creating a new group or managing an existing group.

  • Access restrictions will apply to the Marketplace module only. It doesn't apply to the other modules in the platform. If you want to restrict the group to specific buyers, you must select the Marketplace module when adding or updating groups.

  • If Account Management is enabled for your account or you have created a group for administrators, your group members can access all buyers in your account by default. In such cases, you can't restrict the access.

  • If a user belongs to multiple groups and each group has access to several buyers, the access is based on the sum of all those buyers. For example:

    • If Group 1 has access to the Marketplace module and its members are restricted to Buyers A and B, they can view all information available under this module, including agreements, subscriptions, orders, and more.

    • If Group 2 has access to both Marketplace and Procurement modules and its members are restricted to Buyer C, members will see all marketplace objects related to Buyers A, B, and C.

    • If Group 3 has access to Marketplace, Procurement, and Account Management modules and its members are restricted to Buyer A, B, C, D, and E, members will see all buyers because of the Account Management module (which allows access to all buyers by default).

Restricting groups to specific buyers

You can apply buyer-level restrictions when creating new groups or editing existing ones.
